Lift Creative Group WINS LOGO CONTEST!
June 2nd, 2009
In between projects, browsing the Vail Daily, Brandon saw short story about a logo contest in Eagle, Colorado. The description of what they wanted was brief, but to the point: simple, clean, professional, attractive. His approach was to create and original mark that embodies these traits. After reviewing numerous submissions, One Eagle chose Brandon Swonger with Lift Creative Group’s logo!
The graphic elements are simple, but have meaning:
- The colors directly reflect the mountain landscape. 2 colors were chosen to make reproduction easy on various materials. The mark could be further simplified to 1 color (green).
- The font is easy to read, but original in it’s characteristics. The thin san serif has an modern visual quality.
- The circle shape embodies One Eagle’s connection to all the business’ that the organization represents. It also lends itself to secondary graphic elements.

Colorado Web Design | Outdoor Adventure
April 18th, 2009Recently I’ve been researching and browsing a lot of “Outdoor Adventure Sites“, in and around Vail Colorado. Most of which are pretty old-school and need an update. If you are one of these sites, whether its fly fishing, rafting, horse back riding, hunting, camping, cabins, resorts, vacation packages, outfitters… we can help you out. Browse our web design portfolio. We can assist in a re-design, identity update, web graphics, design, SEO, and other optimization options at a very competive rate.
Problem Solving
April 14th, 2009Graphic Design and Web Design are visual ways to solve a problem, and a great way to project a targeted message. A well thought out and executed website can speak volumes about the company and give the viewer a sense of security. One of the most important aspects of a website is the “flow” (the way the viewer interacts and navigates from one page/topic to the next). Making these transitions instinctive will improve their experience and help them retain information. The architecture is important for SEO as well. Where content is positioned on the page, and what is relates to within the site is very important. A well planned site has many benifits, let Lift Creative Group help you rise above the competition.

Inspiration
April 4th, 2009It can be found: in a dream, in the woods, on a lift, in the snow, talking to a friend, watching a film, reading a book, searching the web, in art, cooking food, eating food, nature, technology, history, and in music.
I’m alway looking for new ways to translate a thought/message into a visual form. I draw inspiration for new projects from my encounters, conversations, and all the experiences I have. Using these experiences for ideas, I try to translate a message in an interesting/orgininal way, which is key to quality graphic design. Being able to consciously adapt to a certain design style is tricky. It is easy to fall into a routine, even if you try not to. Certain aspects are comfortable in visual forms, fonts, colors, shapes. I have found that exploring layouts, in small thumbnails, helps give a quick architecture for content and is easy to work off of. I’ve been doing research before each project and working towards the finished piece (web site, logo, identity, business card…) in the mindset of the target viewer, to make the direction appeal to them. These decisions and guidance help each project speak directly to its audience.

Recession Proof Logos | Vail Edwards Colorado designed
March 30th, 2009Anyone can “design” a logo. But it takes insight, thought, and style to execute a successful logo. We go through a series of steps, creative phases, to achieve a polished trademark.
The steps include:
1. Meeting with the client to determine the goal, desired style, and applications of the new logo. In this phase we talk about the companies target market and how we can reach them. Research is conducted, on our end, to learn more about the client and their competition. From here we start the creative phase.
2. The creative phase is actually a series of milestones. We begin with brainstorming different themes, shapes, colors, fonts, combinations, layouts, approaches, and styles. This is a very open, free flowing time of design. I like to get as many ideas out on paper to begin, hand drawn sketches. From these rough sketches I get general layouts and shapes to work with. Transfering these ideas into vector format is next. Tracing drawings or recreating them from scratch, font exploration, type treatments/combinations, different layout options are all key elements to the initial phase of logo development. Depending on how in depth the client wants to get, I usually produce about 5-15 initial logos for consideration. These options display a wide variety of styles to choose from. Once a few top logo selections are chosen, I fine tune and solidify them for the next round of revision. The last phase in the selection process is choosing between different color options and layouts of the same design elements. Once selected we move on to the final phase.
3. The final phase consists of cleaning up the artwork and file prepartaion in various formats: .ai, .eps, .pdf, .jpg, .tiff. (We also provide the font family used) All of these files are given to the client for their personal use. We usually display the logos in our portfolio as well.
Once the logo is designed, we move on to using it in different applications: print (business cards, letterhead, envelope, brochure, ads, stickers, banners…) and web (web site, banner ads, graphics, advertising…)
